Strapped for cash, Strut organizers opened this year's grand marshal duties to the highest bidder on eBay.com. The winner, Don Robertson of Miami Beach, doled out $5,600 to ride in the back of a Bentley convertible.

''People asked me if I've done anything as stupid as paying $5,600 to do this,'' said Robertson, whose blue blazer, dress slacks and button-down shirt easily made him the most well-dressed Strutter. ``Well, I was husband No. 6 to a woman who had been married five times before.''
